A 48 x 40 in. steel pallet, welded from rectangular tube and finished in yellow powder coat. Eight 3 x 1 in. crossbars sit across three full-length risers, with 1 x 1 in. rails closing the long edges - 5 in. overall height, 16 gauge (0.065 in.) wall throughout. 48 x 40 in. is the standard North American pallet footprint, so it fits racking, conveyors and trailers already laid out for a wooden GMA pallet. Steel changes what the pallet does over its life: it will not splinter, swell or absorb a spill, it needs no ISPM 15 heat treatment to cross a border, and it can be washed down and put straight back into service.
